Livery Design
Built to be recognised
A memorable livery does not need to be complicated. Often, it is a clear colour combination, a strong graphic element or a distinctive detail that makes the car instantly recognisable.
That recognisability needs to work from every angle and at every speed. The design should remain clear from a distance, while still offering enough detail to stay interesting when the car is standing still or shown up close.
Sponsor integration plays an important role in that balance. Every partner needs visibility, but simply making every logo larger rarely leads to a stronger result. We create a clear hierarchy between main sponsors, supporting partners, competition numbers and technical information, giving each element the contrast and space it needs.
The aim is to make every logo feel like part of the livery, rather than something added afterward.
From Livery to Identity
Some clients already have an established identity that needs to be translated into motorsport. Others begin with a few colours, a collection of sponsor logos or an initial idea that still needs direction.
We can create a completely new visual identity, refine an existing livery or develop a flexible design system that can evolve across different cars and seasons.
That identity can also continue beyond the vehicle. Helmets, race suits, service vans, teamwear and communication materials can all become part of the same visual world, creating a stronger and more consistent presence around the complete team.
Whether the project starts from a blank canvas or an existing design, the goal remains the same: to create something distinctive, balanced and unmistakably yours.
A strong livery is about much more than choosing colours that look good together.
It should make the car recognisable before people can even read the name on the window. It needs to bring different sponsors, colours and ideas together without feeling crowded, while remaining powerful when the car is moving, covered in dirt or photographed from a difficult angle.
At IMAGO, every livery is designed around the actual shape of the vehicle. We use its body lines, proportions and distinctive features as part of the design, rather than treating the car as a flat canvas. Every angle matters, from the first impression at the front to the graphics connecting across the side and rear.
We also consider how the design will be experienced in the real world. A livery must remain recognisable from a distance, create visibility for its partners and work within the practical limits of wrapping, printing and application. The result is not simply a collection of graphics placed onto a car, but a complete visual identity created specifically for it.
